Joining or creating an OSOS Community
The OSOS portal promotes a genuine collaborative approach to opening up schools to their local societies through innovative science education practices and the building of communities of practice. These communities are the heart of OSOS: Waste no time in joining a community and other educators in searching, using, modifying and creating teaching materials.

You can search for educational resources created by others, use them in your classroom, modify them according to your own particular needs and classroom realities and create your own resources.

The Self-Reflection Tool is offered to the participating School Heads. It assesses the use level of the school openness of with an emphasis on the introduction of the RRI culture in six key areas:
- leadership and vision,
- curriculum and use of external resources,
- open school culture,
- professional development,
- parental engagement and
- resources and infrastructure. Based on the school’s reference data, actionable analytics will be provided, allowing head teachers and key stakeholders to monitor the school development and the impact of the proposed innovation process.
After assessing your school’s openness level with the self-reflection tool, it is time to make a plan on how to improve your results.
We can help you create and present this plan, which we call the “Open School Development Plan”.
The Open School Development Plan is a strategic document depicting your school’s improvement and change with an emphasis on better learning outcomes for students.
The plan describes a process through which a set of objectives in terms of where your school wants to be, in relation to key areas of action such as professional development, acting as learning ecosystems, promote gender equity, create partnerships with the local community and collaborate effectively with parents and other local stakeholders.
It’s a tool that will support your school in its journey towards openness.
