Managing the care of health and the cure of disease. Part I: Differentiation

This paper is based on a variety of small research interventions, including observation of a range of health care managers, from the chief executive of the National Health Service in England to practicing clinical directors, and a series of seminars conducted with the support of the King Edward's Hospital Fund for London. Our deep appreciation goes to the many thoughtful people in the English system, including those of the King's Fund College, who participated in these experiences.
