Content Providers Academy

Content Providers Academy

This training framework is aimed at training content providers, considering that a Content Provider (CP) is any organization that provides metadata that enables access to digital content for its use in the Open Discovery Space portal (ODSP). A content provider not necessarily hosts the learning resources that it is contributing to the ODSP -acting as a repository and thus storing the digital items- but instead it can only collect metadata with a link to the digital item -acting as a referatory-. The latter is, in fact, the most common case.

In ODS, all content providers expose structured IEEE LOM metadata compliant with ODS application profile via OAI-PMH protocol for metadata harvesting. For the purpose of this training framework content providers are considered only those institutions that are not part of the ODS consortium and that consequently reach agreements for ingesting their metadata into the ODSP over the timeline of the project.
