VISTE 2nd Training Event (3 - 7 September 2018)
The second joint staff training event for Erasmus+ project “VISTE: Empowering Spatial Thinking of Students with Visual Impairment” was held on September 3-7, 2018. It was hosted by the Special Elementary School for the Blind in Athens (SESBA), in Kallithea, Greece.
Teachers from SESBA and Liceul Special pentru Deficienti de Vedere Cluj-Napoca, Romania participated . All partners in the VISTE consortium contributed to the event, by providing technical and administrative support.
VISTE short-term joint staff training events offer teachers of visually impaired students the opportunity to exchange experiences and practices with their colleagues and jointly produce open educational resources.
In this event, teachers analytically presented and discussed twelve educational scenarios, which have been developed in the context of VISTE, with the aim of empowering spatial thinking of visually impaired students.
The five-day program also included round table discussions, workshops with the technical partners developing the VISTE ICT toolkit, hands-on sessions (map making, 3D scanning and printing, creating scenaria with augmented reality) and other activities.
The joint staff training event provided ideas and experiences on how VISTE educational scenarios can foster collaborative learning of sighted and visually impaired students across different subjects, grades and curricula. It also helped familiarize teachers with new technologies and offered valuable feedback for further development of the VISTE user community platform and the VISTE augmented reality tool.
