Responsible use and Cybersafe behavior - The role of parents at protecting their children from inappropriate content

Το Εθνικό Δίκτυο Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας (ΕΔΕΤ Α.Ε.) διοργανώνει την Τρίτη 31 Μαρτίου 2015 και ώρα 16.00 -17.30, διαδικτυακό σεμινάριο (webinar), με στόχο την ενημέρωση και τη στήριξη γονέων και εκπαιδευτικών που ενδιαφέρονται να χτίσουν μια στενή σχέση με γονείς μαθητών σε θέματα που αφορούν στην ασφαλή χρήση του Διαδικτύου, την αντιμετώπιση των κινδύνων που ελλοχεύουν για τους ανήλικους, και τις δυνατότητες προφύλαξης των παιδιών από ακατάλληλο περιεχόμενο.

Οι γονείς θα ενημερωθούν για τα εργαλεία που διατίθενται δωρεάν, ώστε να βοηθήσουν τα παιδιά τους να επωφεληθούν από το διαδίκτυο χρησιμοποιώντας το για ψυχαγωγικούς και εκπαιδευτικούς σκοπούς, αποφεύγοντας παράλληλα πιθανούς κινδύνους.

Το διαδικτυακό σεμινάριο πραγματοποιείται με τη συνεργασία της Μονάδας Εφηβικής Υγείας (Μ.Ε.Υ), της Β’ Παιδιατρικής Κλινικής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, Νοσοκομείο Παίδων «Π & Α Κυριακού» με ομιλία της Επιστημονικής Υπεύθυνης Ά. Τσίτσικα. Ο Ά. Λούβρης, ενεργό μέλος του Συμβουλευτικού Οργάνου Ελληνικού Κέντρου Ασφαλούς Διαδικτύου και επιμελητής του κόμβου «Ασφάλεια στο Διαδίκτυο» του Πανελλήνιου Σχολικού Δικτύου (ΠΣΔ) θα μιλήσει για την "Ασφάλεια στο Διαδίκτυο: Μία υπηρεσία του Πανελλήνιου Σχολικού Δικτύου ως εργαλείο δια βίου μάθησης". Τέλος, ο Γ. Μόσχος, Βοηθός Συνήγορος του Πολίτη για τα Δικαιώματα του Παιδιού θα απαντήσει σε ερωτήσεις σχετικές με το πως χειριζόμαστε τα θέματα των ορίων στη χρήση του διαδικτύου και θέματα σχετικά με το δικαίωμα του ιδιωτικού χώρου των παιδιών.

Η δράση ενημέρωσης γονέων και εκπαιδευτικών στηρίζεται στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού έργου Open Discovery Space (ODS) www.opendiscoveryspace.eu και http://portal.opendiscoveryspace.eu/tr-activity/4-online-safety-responsi..., στο οποίο συμμετέχει ενεργά η ΕΔΕΤ Α.Ε., με στόχο την ενθάρρυνση και υποστήριξη εκπαιδευτικών και γονέων στην χρήση της τεχνολογίας και στην αξιοποίηση ψηφιακού εκπαιδευτικού υλικού στη διδασκαλία.

On 31 March 2015 at 15:00 CET, the 16th webinar in the ODS series will take place with the title "Responsible use and Cybersafe behavior. The role of parents at protecting their children from inappropriate content". This is especially targeted to inform and relate to technology parents who can understand Greek or teachers who have registered with the portal, teachers who have attended summer and winter schools, teachers who are themselves parents and can understand Greek.

The goal of this webinar is to empower parents with the knowledge and tools they need to guide their kids toward making safe and smart choices in their digital lives and to encourage them to start discussing with their children about safe and responsible online use. It is essential to familiarise parents with responsible use and Cybersafe behavior, in order to gain the lack of trust some parents have in their own children and the internet. This webinar will try to relieve parent’s fears through knowledge and understanding. There is a great need to take away the sense of fear amongst some parents and their negativity towards new technologies, by showcasing positive examples and developing a better understanding of how e-Learning works in a school or at home.

Parents will first watch a presentation by Artemis K. Tsitsika, who is heading one of the leading programs on safe internet use in Greece and is the Greek representative to the ENACSO Project (European NGO Alliance for Child Safety Online) and will talk about her experiences and concerns on children’s’ safety online.

“Safety on the Internet, a service of the Greek School Network as a Life Long Learning Instrument”, will be the presentation given by Aris Louvris, IT Teacher and a member of the National Safer Internet Advisory Board. He will pay special attention to the informative site of Greek School Network “Internet Safety” and its section dedicated to parents.

During the webinar, George Moschos, Deputy Ombudsman, Head of Children’s Rights Department will be available online for questions and issues arising by concerned parents and will spark an in-depth conversation about all related issues.
