Unfortunately we had so thick clouds yesterday that we did not manage to do any measurements. Still we wanted to take part on photo contest. So here we are in the grey Finnish Spring day. Next year better luck :-)

Our school is located along the Land Gate (Kopnena vrata) which were erected in 1543., in the shape of a triumphal arch with three entrances. At the time they were main entrance to the city of Zadar. So we measured shadow of the stick there and took pictures for the contest hoping for triumph.

ΘΕΚΛΕΙΟ ΓΥΜΝΑΣΙΟ ΛΕΜΕΣΟΥ
Οι μαθητές του σχολείου μας που πήραν μέρος στο πείραμα (Πέτρου Αναστάσης, Κορκοτής Χριστόφορος, Αγαθαγγέλου Χρήστος, Χριστοφόρου Ανδρέας και Αθανασίου Τάσος, του τμήματος Γ2) χρησιμοποίησαν βασικές γνώσεις μαθηματικών, φυσικής και γεωγραφίας και με τη χρήση απλών μέσων, όπως ένας χάρακας, μέτρησαν το μήκος της σκιάς ενός κονταριού μήκους ενός μέτρου, ακριβώς την ώρα του τοπικού μεσημεριού, στις 21 Μαρτίου 2017, την ημέρα της Εαρινής Ισημερίας, στις 12:41, στην περιοχή του μώλου της πόλης μας.

Dear colleagues,
I'm Lucija Baljkas, professor of mathematics in the seventh grammar school, Zagreb ,Croatia.
VII. Gymnasium is a public grammar school in Zagreb. It is located in Križanićeva street fourth. Today's school building was built in 1932. Reputed as one of the best gymnasium and schools in Croatia wich proves the student's results and achievements at national competitions and state graduation exam.
In excellent experiment of Eratosthenes we have participated for the first time. We are delighted with this experiment. My seven students have enjoyed in measurement and calculation. We have worked and exchanged data with over 10 schools. We were measuring two days at the noon (21.03. and 22.03.). Rest of the days students have calculated the Circumference of Earth. Thank you for allowing me to show my students how mathematics is useful and interesting :)
My students were very engaged about photo contest and wish them all the luck of the world :)
